Ken Forrester needs no introduction, he is one of the true legends of South African winemaking and is known as Mr Chenin Blanc because he was the first producer to grasp that Chenin Blanc could be the perfect grape variety for high-quality South African wine. From being a pioneer of South African Chenin, he quickly established himself as one of the leading winemakers in the world.

What makes this tasting even more special is that Ken is bringing in some limited edition wines that are not normally available in the UK, especially for this dinner, so we will get to try some wines that you won’t be able to buy elsewhere. Some of them are limited-release wines and won’t be available ever again.

Expect to try some great wines, and hear some great and passionate stories from Ken himself, all paired with amazing food!

About Ken Forrester

Ken Forrester started as a successful restaurateur in Johannesburg, however, he was drawn towards the old Vineyard in Helderberg granted in 1689 which is now Ken Forrester’s vineyard and is one of the oldest vineyards in the Cape. When Ken took over the estate it was derelict, and making average wine for bulk producers. However, Ken had a vision for the property, and when everyone told him he had to replant his old vine chenin he went against popular advice and kept the vines. This move eventually led him to create the now iconic FMC Chenin Blanc, now considered one of the best Chenin’s in the world. In recent years he has branched out away from Stellenbosch and is making some of the best examples of wines from areas such as Swartland and Piekenierskloof. Ken is one of the great entertainers of the wine industry, so expect honest stories about his time in the wine trade, and as one of the worlds leading winemakers.
