Four generations of winemakers at Ca dei Frati have painstakingly observed the land and the behaviour of the vines in order to produce the wines we know today. Because the production begins with the plant’s resumption of its vegetative cycle, every day of the year plays a crucial part in helping winemakers to realise their vision.
I Frati Lugana is the wine that made Ca de Frati estate famous and now serves as the company’s brand image. The wine is meant to be enjoyed as a vintage and reaches its peak many years after bottling. When young, it has subtle hints of white blossoms, apricot, and almond, and is fresh, linear, and decorated with great finesse and elegance.
With time, the mineral notes become more evident, and the wine gains complexity with hints of iodates, spices, and candied fruit. Because of the robust, vivacious acidity and noticeable savoury flavour, it can completely fill the palate in the mouth.
Food pairing suggestion: Chinese style steamed fishcakes.
