The Australian wine label by Larry Cherubino stems from the shared winemaking passion of Larry and Edwina. With ample experience in the industry, they embarked on a new venture in 2004, purchasing their first plot of land to cultivate vines and craft distinctive wines. The story began in the couple’s spare room in 2005, with the release of just one wine. Since then, their portfolio has grown, and they’ve had the honour of being recognised as Winery of the Year by esteemed wine critics such as James Halliday and Matt Skinner.
Their dedication has driven them to expand their acreage significantly, marking a journey characterised by unwavering commitment and continuous growth.
Situated near the Frankland River, Larry and Edwina Cherubino’s plot benefits from excellent soil and climate conditions, ideal for producing full-bodied fruits. Since the debut of their first wine in 2005, the brand has steadily gained popularity among wine enthusiasts in Western Australia. The Cherubino wines are crafted from vineyards that span diverse regions, including Frankland River, Pemberton, Margaret River, and Porongurup.
The fruit for this wine underwent meticulous picking and sorting before fermentation, which took place in small lot fermenters. Moderate extraction was pursued to fully express the vineyard’s unique characteristics. Following fermentation, the wine was aged in one-year-old oak barrels for six months to enhance its complexity and structure.
This wine presents aromas of beetroot and earth, complemented by notes of black cherry, red flowers, and oak-derived spices. Its tannins are refined and supple, accompanied by a delicate acidity that leads to a finish with flavours of black cherry and earthy beetroot.
Food pairing suggestion: Aubergine Parmigiana.
Did yo know? ‘Laissez Faire’ translates into ‘Let it be’, which perfectly represents the winemakers approach.
