Clos du Pavillon were the first vines acquired by Jean-Jacques Mélinand (playfully called JJ by his friends).
Over the years, he started to feel cramped and begins to dream of wide and open spaces. He decides to cultivate new plots in the 1970s on the Fleurie appellation. But not long after JJ finds himself short on space as the winery reaches its full capacity and can no longer accommodate any more harvest.
A new home for vines was built on the plateau located 500 meters from the clos: Les Marrans. The winery gains reputation, and as the vines grow, the business undertakes more expansions. Today they are famous for their white, red and rose wines from Fleurie, Morgon, and the villages.

Marrans Morgon estate offers a taste of our best-selling Beaujolais Cru. Morgon is slightly richer in fruit and more robust than the Fleurie, however it is still fine and delicate, with fine but present tannins. The “Corcelette” parcel, which is south-facing and high up, lends this wine an extraordinary freshness. It has a vibrant and minerally flavour and is strong and well-cared for because it spent a year maturing in oak barrels. While it is enjoyable to drink when young, cellaring it for four or five years will allow it to fully develop and show off its best qualities!

Food pairing suggestion: Barbecued Andouillette with sautée potatoes
