The winery is located on the northern side of the Etna DOC, between the Zottorinoto and Puntalepalino districts, specifically in Solicchiata, a hamlet of Castiglione di Sicilia, at an altitude ranging from 750 to 900 meters above sea level.
This is an absolutely unique area, defined by the proximity of an active volcano and an intricate mosaic of soils formed by various lava flows from past eruptions. Each meter of land here differs from the next, contributing to the distinctiveness and diversity of flavours, colors, and aromas. The slopes of Etna also capture the rich scents of the nearby sea, further enhancing the character of the wines produced in this extraordinary region.
The typically warm, sunny, and breezy climate is highly favourable for vineyard cultivation. Additionally, winter rains and the temperature variations during summer nights contribute to the optimal ripening of the grapes. These conditions are essential in shaping the high sensory expression of the wines produced in this region.
Catarratto is a vigorous and highly expressive grape variety, known for its intense aromas. The vineyards are cultivated as bush vines (saplings), with short pruning and limited bunches per plant to ensure a good concentration of aromas in the grapes. This wine is a citrus-driven delight, with tropical fruit flavours, herbal aromas, and a saline finish. Ideal for warm evenings and pleasantly versatile, requiring no food pairing to be fully enjoyed.
