The history of Laurent Perrier’s house is dated back to 1812. But the House owns its style as we know it today to its former owner Bernard de Nonancourt. During his 50 years as president, he earned the name of an innovator and made Laurent Perrier what it is today. In addition to reviving and assuming control of the Champagne’s historic practises, he also introduced new technical and blending strategies. He produced a variety of distinctive wines, each with a unique background and character. Today, Laurent-Perrier is praised for both its sense of taste and the reliability of its quality, cuvée after cuvée. This Champagne house is still family-owned, which is increasingly rare in the region.
This stunning Champagne is considered one of the market leaders in the non-vintage Rosé Champagne category. The wine is produced from 100% Pinot Noir and consequently lends very focused red berry notes such as strawberry, redcurrant and raspberry to the palate. The cuvée was first created in 1968 at a time when a great deal of creativity was occurring in Champagne houses. The style proved a huge success, so much so, that the pale hue now taken for granted in Rosé Champagne is often attributed to this wine. Its intense red fruit aromas, outstanding freshness, and intensity make it stand out from other Rosé Champagnes.
Food pairing suggestion: Laurent Perrier recommends trying this with marinated raw fish or even Parma ham.
