Australia is one of the most established countries for high quality wine in the world, they have managed to shake off the bulk wine image of the 1980’s and 1990’s, and come out of that period to establish a country that has several “iconic” wines as well as thousands of top quality producers, and regions that give Australia a real point of difference in the world of wine.
During this tasting we will show you how regionality is key to Australia, as well as how their various climates, and some of the oldest vines in the world give Australia a point of difference from what most people know of Australian wines.
To help to guide us through this will be a very special guest, Australian wine expert Emma Symington Master of Wine. Emma is one of fewer than 400 MW’s globally, and also is an ambassador for Wines of Australia, so can give us an amazing insight in to these wines.
You will get three 750ml bottles, two white wines and one red wine* for this tasting which is live at 6pm on the 27th June – please note the new start time.
This recurring event will be hosted by both Phil the owner and Paul the wine educator, plus Will the owner of Anderson & Hill, giving you a unique chance to experience a tasting with both wine experts at Loki, and a cheese expert.
To make it simple for you, for this tasting you just need to buy the wines from us, then purchase the cheese to match the wines. The cheeses this week are: Saint Nectaire, Morbier and Cambridge Blue*. If you cannot order from Anderson & Hill try getting something similar to: Port-Salut, Swiss Raclette, and A medium strength blue cheese.
If you live within 5 miles of Loki you can select the option to get 300 grams of cheese (approximately 3×100 grams of each cheese) of delicious Anderson & Hill cheese delivered with your wines. Or we deliver on Wednesday’s to Solihull & surroundings, Thursday to Stourbridge & surroundings, and Friday to Sutton Coldfield.
If you live outside the 5 miles we can ship you the wine via UPS express delivery (usually 1-3 days), however as we cannot guarantee that the wines sent via UPS will be delivered in time for the live tasting, we will be providing everyone with the video of the tasting afterwards. Unfortunately we cannot ship the cheese out via UPS.
The format of the event
The live video will happen from 6pm on Saturday and will last for at least one hour. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you have during the event, please use the live chat and talk to us and will relay the messages to the speakers.
If you cannot make the live video we will send everyone a recording of the event usually around 2 hours afterward the end of the tasting, so you can enjoy the tasting at a time convenient for you.
Price: £55 which includes the three bottles of wine and the hosted wine tasting – This should be enough for up-to 3/4 people depending how much you want to drink!
