We have been asked by a number of people to talk more about sustainability in winemaking, a lot of the terminology used in wine is confusing to consumers and most don’t understand what the differences between these terms are. At Loki we generally don’t put a big focus on these terms, as the vast majority of our producers are in fact sustainable, however it is important to talk about.
During this tasting we will be debunking a load of terms for you including Organic, Biodynamic, Natural, Minimal Intervention, plus a load of other things. You may even get us to talk about Cameron Diaz’s new “clean wine” “movement”. During the tasting you will try three different sustainable wines which we think really fly the flag for sustainability.
You will get three 750ml bottles, one white wine, and two red wines* for this tasting which is live at 6pm on the 19th September.
This recurring event will be hosted by both Phil the owner and Paul the wine educator, plus Will the owner of Anderson & Hill, giving you a unique chance to experience a tasting with both wine experts at Loki, and a cheese expert.
To make it simple for you, for this tasting you just need to buy the wines from us, then purchase the cheese to match the wines. The cheeses this week are: Chabichou, Cave Aged Emmental, and Cantal Affine.* If you can’t get the Anderson & Hill cheese you can try to find: A French goats cheese, Emmental, and Aged Cheddar.
Collect from either store You can collect the cheese & wine on the week of the tasting from either store from 2 pm on Wednesday -4:30 pm on Saturday for free by selecting the free collection from store option at the checkout.
If you live within 5 miles of Loki you can select the option to get 300 grams of cheese (approximately 3×100 grams of each cheese) of delicious Anderson & Hill cheese delivered with your wines. Or we deliver on Wednesday’s to Solihull & surroundings, Thursday to Stourbridge & surroundings, and Friday to Sutton Coldfield.
If you live outside the 5 miles we can ship you the wine via UPS express delivery (usually 1-3 days), however as we cannot guarantee that the wines sent via UPS will be delivered in time for the live tasting, we will be providing everyone with the video of the tasting afterwards. Unfortunately we cannot ship the cheese out via UPS.
The format of the event
The live video will happen from 6pm on Saturday and will last for at least one hour. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you have during the event, please use the live chat and talk to us and will relay the messages to the speakers.
If you cannot make the live video we will send everyone a recording of the event usually around 2 hours afterward the end of the tasting, so you can enjoy the tasting at a time convenient for you.
