This is the fourth off The Great Wine Regions Series with our next destination: Bordeaux – Power, Precision, and the Art of Blending

From the gravel banks of the Médoc to the clay-limestone hills of Saint-Émilion and the golden vineyards of Sauternes, Bordeaux remains one of the world’s most influential wine regions. Home to legendary châteaux and timeless winemaking traditions, this masterclass explores why Bordeaux continues to set global standards for quality, longevity, and elegance.

Led by Radu Vasile, our in-house wine educator, this session uncovers the complexity, structure, and diversity that define Bordeaux’s great appellations. Expect clarity, expert insight, and plenty of engaging discussion as we dive into the heart of Left Bank vs Right Bank styles, the nuances of Bordeaux blends, and the region’s enduring prestige.

About the Masterclass

This structured three-hour session blends guided tasting with deep-dive learning into Bordeaux’s terroir, history, and winemaking philosophies. You’ll explore how soil, climate, grape variety, and classification systems shape the wines, while comparing classic expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Semillon across celebrated appellations.

With Radu’s guidance, you’ll refine your tasting technique, learning how to evaluate tannin structure, oak integration, aromatic development, and ageing potential. To bring the region to life, we’ll enjoy Bordelais-inspired nibbles alongside the wines.

What to Expect

  • Taste 8 wines representing both the Left and Right Bank, including Médoc, Graves, Saint-Émilion, Pomerol, and a classic Sauternes
  • Understand how gravel, clay, sand, and limestone determine grape performance and wine style
  • Compare Left Bank (Cabernet-led) vs Right Bank (Merlot-led) structures and flavour profiles
  • Explore Bordeaux winemaking traditions, oak usage, and ageing philosophy
  • Develop tasting skills focusing on tannins, texture, complexity, and evolution
  • Enjoy regional nibbles designed to complement the wines
  • End with a fun, informal quiz – the winner takes home a bottle of wine!

Who Is This For?

  • Curious drinkers interested in classic Bordeaux grape varieties and how terroir, blending, and appellations shape distinctive styles across the Left and Right Banks.
