Gaia Wines

Gaia Wines is a Greek winery that focuses on producing top-quality wines made from Greece’s indigenous grape varieties. They are one of the best Greek producers, who respect the past and are committed to preserving the country’s winemaking heritage. However, they are not shy of using all the modern winemaking techniques, and that allows them to produce clean and precise wines. Founded in 1994 by winemaker Yiannis Paraskevopoulos and his wife Leonidas, the winery is situated in the Nemea region of the Peloponnese and is renowned for its adherence to sustainable farming methods.

Gaia Wine Production

The winery offers a variety of red, white, and rosé wines, including some of Greece’s most renowned varieties such as Agiorgitiko. In addition to its production in Nemea, Gaia has vineyards in several regions of Greece, including Nemea, Santorini, and Koutsi. The winery produces a range of wines, from crisp and refreshing whites to rich and complex reds, using both indigenous and international grape varietals.

One of the producer’s signature wines is the Thalassitis Assyrtiko, made from 100% Assyrtiko grapes grown on the volcanic island of Santorini. This wine is known for its mineral-rich character and bright acidity, which make it a perfect match for seafood and other light dishes.

Another standout wine from Gaia Wine Producer is the Agiorgitiko by Gaia, a blend of 90% Agiorgitiko grapes and 10% Syrah. This wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels, resulting in a rich and complex wine with notes of dark fruit, spice, and vanilla.

Gaia – Other Products

Apart from world-renowed wines, Gaia also produces rare vinegar. Not all grapes are suitable for making of this delicious condiment. Two equal portions of Assyrtiko’s must are split off and sent on separate journeys of oxidation, ‘cooking’ and 4-year ageing before coming back together. A special hybrid method of acidification was created by fusing an Italian recipe for Aceto Balsamico with a classic French recipe from Orleans. Without any further steps or filtering, this distinctive aged Assyrtiko vinegar with a complex aromatic profile is packaged in classy 250ml bottles. Each harvest only produces 5,000 bottles.
