Rhone Tasting Dinner with Chapoutier wines – At Chapter

We have wanted to host the legends of Rhone M Chapoutier for a number of years but have never managed to tie down a date, so I am delighted that we have managed to arrange this at last. For any of you who have been into Loki, you will know that Phil and all the staff have a special affinity with the Northern Rhone. Not only do we think it is one of the great wine regions of the world, but the Hermitage appellation produces some of the finest wines in the world. Chapoutier with their 25% ownership of the vineyards in this appellation are the kings of the area and the iconic producer of this famous wine.

For this tasting, we welcome the European director of M Chapoutier Martin Champagne (yes, it is his real surname!), who will take us through these wonderful wines, and tell us the history that has made Chapoutier one of the most recognised French producers. If that isn’t enough we have worked with Chapter to create a 4-course menu to specially go with these outstanding wines.

About Chapoutier

Chapoutier was founded in 1808, however, the real progress and positioning as the Rhone’s most highly regarded producer came under the stewardship of Michel Chapoutier in 1988. Since that time he has revolutionised the company into one of the most highly regarded wine companies in France and globally, winning himself winemaker of the year on numerous occasions. Chapoutier was one of the first pioneers of Biodynamic wines, however, his primary focus was always on creating the best wine possible. You will be blown away by the quality of their Syrahs, as they are probably the most elegant Syrahs in the world!

They are located primarily in the Hermitage area of the Rhone where they own a whopping 25% of the most premium appellation of Hermitage. Even though Hermitage is their home their production spreads throughout every appellation within the Rhone, and they make biodynamic and high-quality wines throughout the appellation.

During the tasting dinner, we will be covering mainly the Northern Rhone where you will get to try super-premium wines from Condrieu (RRP £50) and Hermitage (RRP £80) and others.

Let’s talk food! The event will take place at our local favourite in Edgbaston – Chapter. These guys cook consistently amazing food, and they have recently been featured in the Good Food Guide’s ‘100 Best Local Restaurants’! They will cook us a feast to complement the amazing wine selection.
