A classic, elegant Listrac-Médoc Cru Bourgeois with refined dark fruit, cedar spice, and silky tannins.
Saransot-Dupré Rouge, Producer
Château Saransot-Dupré is a family-owned estate in Listrac-Médoc, Bordeaux, with a history dating back to the 18th century. Today, it is run by Yves Raymond and his family, who focus on producing authentic, terroir-driven wines that express the character of the Médoc. The château has earned a reputation for crafting consistently high-quality Bordeaux at exceptional value, classified as Cru Bourgeois.
Saransot-Dupré Rouge, Terroir & Winemaking
The vineyards are planted on a mix of gravel, clay, and limestone soils typical of Listrac-Médoc, giving both power and finesse to the wines. Merlot is the dominant grape, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Grapes are hand-harvested and vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel to preserve fruit character. Maturation takes place in French oak barrels, around 20–25% new, for 12–14 months, adding structure and complexity without overwhelming the wine’s freshness.
Saransot-Dupré Rouge, Tasting Notes
Aromas of blackcurrant, plum, and violet are layered with cedar, tobacco, and subtle spice. The palate is medium-bodied yet concentrated, with silky tannins and balanced acidity. Notes of cassis, dark cherry, and graphite unfold with a touch of mocha, leading to a long, elegant finish. This is a refined Médoc that can be enjoyed now or cellared for up to a decade.
Food pairing suggestion: Entrecôte Bordelaise (ribeye with red wine and shallot sauce).
