Founded in 2024 by Richard Stenton, Midland Press is Birmingham’s first urban winery, producing small-batch wines focused on minimal intervention and regional expression. The winery operates from a cool railway arch cellar in the city centre, where wines are fermented, aged, bottled, unfined, and unfiltered entirely on site. Midland Press works closely with growers across the Midlands and surrounding counties, championing lesser-known vineyard sites and varieties perfectly suited to England’s evolving climate.

Outer City Limits Orange, Winemaking

Outer City Limits Orange 2025 is made from 100% Muscaris grapes sourced from a single vineyard in north Herefordshire. The wine underwent four weeks of cool carbonic maceration, helping preserve its lifted aromatics and vibrant freshness while gently extracting colour and texture from the skins. After fermentation, the wine spent five months ageing in stainless steel before being bottled completely unfiltered and unfined, maintaining its raw energy and expressive character.

The result? A crunchy, lightweight red with almost rosé-like freshness; no oak, no additives, just raw, expressive fruit and English minimalism at its best.
