Greywacke Wild Sauvignon is a unique and complex white wine produced in New Zealand’s Marlborough region by Greywacke Vineyards. The winery is known for its high-quality Sauvignon Blancs, and the Wild Sauvignon is a particularly interesting expression of the grape.
Kevin Judd from Greywacke was the founding winemaker of Cloudy Bay, and now makes Greywacke, which has built a reputation as one of the best producers in New Zealand. The “Wild” uses wild yeast and barrel fermentation to give you a really serious foodie Sauvignon Blanc. If you have not tried an oak-aged Sauvignon before you must try this.
Greywacke Wild Sauvignon has a pale gold colour and aromas of citrus fruits, such as grapefruit and lime, as well as hints of tropical fruits, such as passionfruit and guava. On the palate, the wine is rich and complex, with flavours of citrus and tropical fruits, as well as a touch of minerality and smokiness from the oak ageing. The wine has a long, elegant finish with balanced acidity.
