Join us at Loki Edgbaston for a special evening with Ernst Loosen, the legendary German winemaker behind Dr Loosen. With Ernst himself guiding you through seven wines, this is an opportunity to explore the remarkable versatility of Riesling in the company of one of its most celebrated champions.
The Dr Loosen estate has been in the same family for more than 200 years, with Ernst taking the helm in 1988. Working with old vines and the steep slate vineyards of Germany’s Mosel Valley, he has built an international reputation for wines that express the character of their origins. His contribution to wine was recognised when he was named Decanter’s Man of the Year in 2005.
Our tasting explores Riesling in its many forms, from dry expressions through Kabinett and Spätlese to a 2018 Beerenauslese. We’ll also venture beyond Germany with LoosenBarry Slate Hill Riesling from Australia’s Clare Valley, the result of Ernst’s collaboration with the Barry family. It’s a fascinating opportunity to compare two celebrated Riesling regions through a shared passion for the grape.
