Ruggeri Argeo Prosecco: Proper Prosecco from the Heart of Veneto
Ruggeri Argeo Prosecco is exactly the sort of bottle that reminds you how good well-made Prosecco can be. Fresh, bright and beautifully delicate, it combines crisp orchard fruit with fine bubbles and enough character to make it much more than simply a pre-dinner fizz.
Ruggeri has deep roots in Valdobbiadene. The modern winery was founded in 1950 by Giustino Bisol, although the Bisol family’s involvement in local winemaking stretches back through five generations. Today, Ruggeri works closely with more than 100 local growers, relationships built over decades and supported by the winery’s own team of agronomists. In the steep vineyards of the region, grapes are harvested by hand and careful vineyard management is particularly important.
That combination of tradition and experimentation has long defined Ruggeri. The winery was an early advocate for exploring the ageing potential of Glera and has also championed indigenous varieties such as Bianchetta, Perera and Verdiso alongside the region’s principal grape.
Argeo is a Prosecco DOC Treviso Brut, based predominantly on Glera. In the glass it is a very pale straw yellow with subtle greenish highlights and a fine, lively mousse. The nose is fresh and floral, with plenty of golden apple, white peach and delicate citrusy fruit. On the palate it is light, crisp and wonderfully easy to drink, with gentle fruitiness balanced by refreshing acidity and a clean, persistent finish.
It’s polished without being overly serious, making it an excellent bottle to have chilled and ready whenever the occasion calls for bubbles.
Ruggeri Prosecco Food Pairing Suggestion:
A natural aperitif, but don’t stop there. Try it with a plate of antipasti, fried calamari or prawns, grilled fish, delicate fresh cheeses or salty al fresco nibbles. Its fresh acidity and lively bubbles work particularly well with lighter dishes and anything with a little crispness or saltiness.
