DeLoach Heritage Reserve Pinot Noir: Silky, Fresh & Full of Red Fruit
DeLoach Heritage Reserve Pinot Noir is a lovely introduction to California Pinot Noir: light, silky and packed with bright red fruit rather than being big or heavy. It has plenty of flavour, but keeps the elegance and freshness that makes Pinot Noir so easy to enjoy.
DeLoach Vineyards has been working with Pinot Noir in Sonoma’s Russian River Valley for decades, experimenting with different combinations of soils, rootstocks and clones. In 2003, the Boisset family arrived from Burgundy, bringing generations of winemaking experience and a strong commitment to sustainable farming. Their focus has been on looking after the vineyards while allowing Pinot Noir’s more delicate character to shine through.
The Heritage Reserve is very much on the lighter, more elegant side of California Pinot Noir. Aromas of ripe Bing cherry and strawberry lead into a soft, juicy palate, with a gentle touch of spice and an earthy forest-floor note adding a little extra complexity. The body is light, the balance is fresh and supple, and the finish is smooth without being overly rich. A really easy-going Pinot Noir for anyone who enjoys bright fruit and a softer style of red.
DeLoach Heritage Reserve Pinot Noir Food Pairing Suggestion:
Try this with wild mushroom tartlets, where the earthy mushrooms work brilliantly with Pinot Noir’s subtle forest-floor character. It would also be lovely with roast chicken, duck, mushroom risotto or pork served with something fruity such as cherry or cranberry.
