Misfits Grenache is Ken Forrester’s rebellious red: juicy, wild-fruited and utterly irresistible. It celebrates the untamed side of Grenache. Lifted aromatics, plush red fruit, gentle spice and that signature silkiness the grape does best. A wine for relaxed evenings, good friends and unapologetic pleasure.
Ken Forrester, The Producer
Although best known for Chenin Blanc, Ken Forrester has always championed Rhône varieties in Stellenbosch’s granitic soils. Misfits is part of his experimental, small-batch range, wines made with curiosity, instinct and a refusal to take things too seriously. Ken describes Grenache as “a free spirit”, and Misfits reflects that: minimal intervention, no heavy oak, lots of personality. It’s the side of Ken Forrester that’s mischievous, playful and totally unpretentious.
About the 2022 Vintage
The 2022 vintage is bright and fragrant, showing red cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry liquorice and a hint of white pepper. Soft tannins, lifted acidity and a supple, silky texture make it immediately drinkable. A whisper of lavender and dried herbs sits on the finish — pure South African sunshine in a glass. It’s vibrant now but will become more savoury over 3–4 years.
Food Pairing Suggestion
Pair with lamb koftas, crispy duck pancakes or wood-fired mushroom flatbreads.
