Tramari Rosé di Primitivo San Marzano, Producer
Cantine San Marzano is one of southern Italy’s standout cooperatives, renowned for revitalising native Apulian grapes with a modern, quality-driven approach. Based in the heart of the Salento Peninsula, the winery represents over 1,200 growers and blends tradition with innovation. Tramari (a play on “tra i mari” — between the seas) is their signature rosé, inspired by the coastal breezes of the Ionian and Adriatic.
Tramari Rosé di Primitivo San Marzano, Terroir & Winemaking
The grapes are grown in vineyards near the Ionian Sea, where sandy soils and cooling marine breezes ensure fresh, aromatic fruit. Harvest takes place in the early morning to preserve delicacy and structure. After gentle pressing, the must undergoes a brief skin maceration to extract colour and aroma, then ferments at low temperatures in stainless steel. The resulting wine is light, expressive, and thoroughly Mediterranean in spirit.
Tramari Rosé di Primitivo San Marzano, Tasting Notes
Delicate aromas of wild strawberry, pomegranate, and pink grapefruit waft from the glass, joined by hints of rose and fresh basil. The palate is crisp and refreshing, with flavours of redcurrant, sour cherry, and a subtle saline edge. Balanced acidity and a gentle texture give this wine broad appeal, while its dry, food-friendly finish ensures it stands up beautifully at the table.
