Sevilen Majestik Syrah Kalecik Karasi, Producer
Founded in 1942 by Bulgarian immigrant Isa Güner, Sevilen began with just four hectares in Izmir and a vision to create high-quality Turkish wine. His dedication to the land inspired the name “Sevilen,” meaning “beloved.” Under the stewardship of his sons and now the third generation of the Güner family, the winery has grown to over 160 hectares of vineyards, becoming one of Turkey’s leading premium producers.
Sevilen Majestik Syrah Kalecik Karasi, Terroir & Winemaking
The grapes for this blend are sourced from 15–20-year-old unirrigated vines planted on limestone and clay soils in Güney, part of the Denizli region in the Aegean. Hand-harvested fruit undergoes fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperatures, with 15 days of maceration to extract colour and flavour. After fermentation, 10% of the wine is aged in 400-litre, medium-toast French oak barrels to add subtle complexity without overshadowing the fresh fruit profile.
Sevilen Majestik Syrah Kalecik Karasi, Tasting Notes
This blend marries Syrah’s firm structure with the soft, round fruit of Kalecik Karası, creating a harmonious and approachable style. Aromas of ripe strawberries and mulberries are accented by a gentle hint of black pepper and warm spice. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh, and balanced, with supple tannins and a smooth, lingering finish.
