Producer
Bruce Jack Wines (Western Cape, South Africa) is driven by the dynamic duo of Bruce Jack and Marlize Beyers, who’ve collaborated since 2002. Their Off the Charts range celebrates Swartland’s raw energy and cultural roots — with labels inspired by the untamed landscape and the Basotho blanket. In 2023, this range earned recognition as one of the world’s most admired wine brands.
Terroir & Winemaking
The grapes come from historic Swartland vineyards (60–300 m elevation), planted on ancient sandstone and shale soils. These bush vines thrive in scorching, dry summers and cooler, wet winters — perfect for small berries and concentrated character. Sustainable farming and hand-harvesting keep the grapes pure.
Vinification is block-focused: 45% of the fruit is destemmed and sees 24 hours of skin contact before gentle pressing, then fermented in stainless steel. Younger-vine fruit ferments in concrete, while 11% from older bush vines ferments on lees in 300 L French oak barrels at lower temps — highlighting textural depth. After a few months on fine lees, the wine is bottled young to preserve energy and freshness.
Tasting Notes
This vibrant, “orange” Chenin Blanc blend (89% Chenin, 11% Grenache Blanc) dazzles with tropical fruit, floral lift, and bright citrus. On the palate, expect refreshing acidity, textured mouthfeel, and notes of papaya, grapefruit, and yeasty richness . The finish is crisp, invigorating, and elegantly dry .
Food pairing suggestion: crab risotto.
