Ca’ del Bosco Franciacorta Cuvée Prestige: Italy’s Answer to Champagne
Ca’ del Bosco is one of the top producers of Franciacorta, Italy’s answer to Champagne. Their Cuvée Prestige is elegant and lively, with a fine mousse, gentle biscuity notes and fresh red apple. A brilliant alternative to Champagne for any celebration.
Ca’ del Bosco is owned by Maurizio Zanella, one of the most important figures in modern Italian wine. His mother planted the first vineyard at the family home in Erbusco, surrounded by chestnut trees, and Maurizio’s work played a big part in Franciacorta gaining its DOCG status in 1995.
Franciacorta is made using the traditional method, the same as Champagne, with the second fermentation in the bottle. Cuvée Prestige is a blend of around 75% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Nero and 10% Pinot Bianco, including at least 20% reserve wines, and it spends about 25 months on its lees before release.
Expect peach, citrus and white flowers, with bread crust and toasted almond. The palate is fresh and elegant, with a fine, persistent mousse, crisp red apple and a dry, refreshing finish.
Ca’ del Bosco Franciacorta Food Pairing Suggestion:
Lovely as an aperitif with canapés. It is also excellent with fish tartare or carpaccio, steamed shellfish, sushi or a savoury tart.
