About Lanson Champagne House
Founded in 1760 in Reims, Lanson is one of Champagne’s oldest and most consistently respected houses. For over 260 years, the House has championed a style built on freshness, delicacy and longevity. Central to this signature is Lanson’s historic decision to avoid malolactic fermentation: a technique that preserves crisp acidity and vibrant fruit, giving their wines exceptional ageing potential. With a legacy rooted in craftsmanship and precision, Lanson continues to refine its approach while remaining faithful to the principles that have defined the House since the 18th century.
Champagne Lanson Le Vintage Millésime 2014, Terroir & Winemaking
Le Vintage Millésime 2014 is composed primarily of Pinot Noir from some of the finest Grand and Premier Cru villages — including Verzenay, Aÿ and Bouzy, complemented by Chardonnay sourced from renowned Côte des Blancs crus such as Avize and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.
The 2014 season delivered excellent balance, with a cooler summer followed by a beautifully warm September that encouraged even ripening and aromatic clarity.
As with all Lanson vintages, the wine undergoes:
- Separate vinification of individual plots to preserve their unique profiles
- No malolactic fermentation, maintaining freshness and precision
- Extended ageing of around 7–8 years on lees in Lanson’s chalk cellars
- Careful, late disgorgement to allow the wine to mature slowly and gracefully
The result is a champagne that combines tension, complexity and remarkable purity.
Champagne Lanson Le Vintage Millésime 2014, Tasting Notes
The wine presents a pale gold colour with fine, persistent bubbles. Aromas of lemon zest, Mirabelle plum, baked apple and white flowers rise delicately from the glass, followed by subtle hints of toasted brioche, hazelnut and chalk.
On the palate, Le Vintage 2014 is taut, refined and energetic: crisp citrus, green apple and stone fruit are layered with almond cream, patisserie notes and a refined mineral backbone. The finish is long, saline and beautifully structured, showcasing both the freshness of the house style and the depth of the vintage.

Did you know?
Lanson is one of the very few major Champagne houses that has never adopted malolactic fermentation as standard practice. This decision, rooted in its 18th-century cellar traditions, is precisely why its vintage champagnes, such as Le Vintage 2014, age with such elegance and slow-developing complexity.
