Domaine de la Madone Perréon Power Pet’ Nat, Producer
Nestled among the steep, pink-granite slopes of Le Perréon in Beaujolais, Domaine de la Madone is a family estate where vines climb at such angles tractors won’t work and peasants harvest by hand. Their vineyards sit at high altitude, often over 300-400 metres, on old Gamay vines planted 40–70 years ago or more. The “Perréon Power” Pet’ Nat is a lively collaboration with nearby colleagues and is made in minimal-intervention style, capturing the raw energy of the site.
Domaine de la Madone Perréon Power Pet’ Nat, Terroir & Winemaking
The granite-rich soils of the Madone/Perréon hillside lend vivid minerality, ripeness and brightness to the fruit. For this Petillant Naturel (Pet’ Nat), the 2024 Gamay grapes were picked early to retain freshness, fermented using native yeasts and bottled before secondary fermentation completed, so the fizz remains naturally gentle and the wine alive with texture. No dosage, minimal sulphur and big emphasis on purity and site expression. The result is a Pet’ Nat that’s as rugged and steep-sited as the vineyards themselves.
Domaine de la Madone Perréon Power Pet’ Nat, Tasting Notes
The colour is a soft ruby with pink-tinged bubbles that dance freely in the glass. Aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry, wet granite and a hint of pét-nats’ signature yeasty bread crust draw you in. On the palate it’s brisk yet creamy: red berry fruits meet chalky minerality and sprightly fizz, finished with wild herbs and a fine, almost savoury edge. The tannins are light, acidity high: a pét-nat with precision, energy and joyous drive.
Did you know?
The vineyards of Le Perréon are so steep they’re often likened to mountainsides — harvesting requires ladders, ropes and sheer determination.
Try it with: Grilled Halloumi, Watermelon & Mint Skewers
Why it pairs well: The lively fizz and berry-juice vibrancy of the Pet’ Nat cut through the salty halloumi and mirror the sweetness of the watermelon, while the mint leaf adds a cooling freshness that complements the wine’s herbal streak.
