Ken Forrester is one of the legends of South African winemaking and one of the country’s most awarded producers. Pat’s Garden is his Merlot-dominated Bordeaux blend, combining the juicy fruitiness of Merlot with the structure and finesse of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

Ken Forrester Wines is based in Stellenbosch, the heart of South Africa’s wine country. While Ken is best known as a Chenin Blanc specialist, his reds are every bit as impressive, and Pat’s Garden is a lovely example.

The wine is mostly Merlot, grown on clay-rich soils facing south and south-west, which help keep the fruit fresh. The result is a medium-bodied, elegant red that is easy to enjoy now.
