In 1950, Salvatore Pala, the son of Battistino, produced his first wine using grapes harvested from his own vineyards nestled in the countryside of Serdiana. His aim was to craft quality wines for sale. Utilising Nuragus grapes for the white wine and Monica and Pascale grapes for the red, Salvatore embarked on his winemaking journey, laying the foundation for what would become a legacy in the world of wine.
The first vintage of Silenzi Bianco was harvested in 2001, and the current wine comes from these very vineyards. The blend consists of 50% Vermentino and 50% local grape variety Nuragus. With origins tracing back to ancient times, Nuragus is believed to have been introduced to the island by Phoenician sailors during their early voyages. The widespread popularity of this grape variety in recent years can be attributed to its inherent resilience, adaptability to various terrains, and notably, its generous yields.
This is a very soft and floral wine, with notes of herbs and flavours of apple, pear, and citrus. Fresh, young, and fruity, pairs beautifully with our longing for summer!
Food pairing suggestion: Seafood soup with fregula, basil and citrus.
