This is the latest release from Loki’s all-time favourite South African wine producer Boekenhoutskloof.
This Cabernet is made from carefully chosen plots of Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards, planted on the South-Eastern slope of the Polkadraai Hills and the North-Western slope of the Helderberg mountain. The deep decomposed granite soils, Table Mountain sandstone, and “koffieklip” are the perfect environment for these parcels of outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon to develop.
This red is rich, full-bodied, and intensely scented, with notes of brambles, mulberries, dark cherries, and traditional cassis. With undertones of molasses, espresso, and fine cocoa, the ample red and blackberry fruit of the aroma is followed by spicy notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves. These flavours add to the complexity of the palate’s layered, generous, and potent flavour profile. The medium-bodied mid-palate is structured and concentrated while also being delicate, and lean thanks to its abundance of rich, luscious, poised fruit that is counterbalanced by delicious acidity and ultra-fine, polished tannins. The wine has a dry, concentrated finish with lingering notes of cigar box, pencil lead, and charred tobacco.
Food pairing suggestion: Perfect pairing for barbecued meats.
