The Ca’ dei Frati enterprise has a long history dating back to 1782. Felice Dal Cero, who had been a winegrower in Montecchia di Crosara, near Verona, went to Lugana di Sirmione in 1939 and recognised the possibilities for growing vines. His son Pietro participated in the establishment of the DOC in 1969 by bottling his first wine under the label Lugana Casa dei Frati, afterwards known as Ca’ dei Frati, after spending thirty years working in the vineyard and cellar.
Brolettino is made using the native Turbiana grapes, one of our outstanding local vines. Around the middle of October, fully ripe grapes are harvested, and the extremely fruitful soil provides a product with structure and a high capacity for ageing. The final product display aromas of ripe fruit, peaches, golden apples, and rose petals with fresh, balsamic undertones. A palate is powerful while still being fresh and refine. A crisp acidity and a distinct savouriness alongside a great structure thoroughly cleanse the palate and fill it with delicate aromas.
Food pairing suggestion: Italian fish stew.
