The name Château Clarke refers to the Irish family that bought this enormous estate in 1771. The Chateau Clarke property was purchased by Baron Edmond de Rothschild in 1973 after being passed down through multiple generations that continued the winemaking tradition for more than two centuries. Edmond de Rothschild, a wine enthusiast like many other members of his distinguished family, had a goal of owning a small, modest vineyard that he would transform into a masterpiece. He made Château Clarke the hallmark of his brand out of a great enthusiasm for the art of life and the quest of excellence. The close proximity of the Atlantic Ocean provides the land a freshness that is reflected in the wine’s aromatic brightness. It is an area famous for producing Cabernet Sauvignon, but Merlot can grow well here due to the region’s favourable terroir. Thus, Château Clarke has a very unique Médoc personality.

This case includes two bottles of each of three outstanding vintages from Château Clarke, Listrac Medoc, Bordeaux, displayed in a limited edition original wooden case.

  • Château Clarke 2005

The best aspect of the wine is its nose, with notes of tobacco, wet soil, spice, cassis, and cherry. There is an austerity on the palate that will undoubtedly appeal to fans of older, so-called classic wines (Robert Parker: 90-92 points).

  • Château Clarke 2010

A very well made wine with pronounced minerals and crushed-raspberry aroma. Tannins that are fully incorporated into the body and have a crisp, clean finish of a few minutes long (James Suckling: 93 points).

  • Château Clarke 2015

The 2015 Clarke has a lovely nose of blackberries and briars, with just a tinge of dark chocolate coming from the new oak. Fine tannin and acidity are perfectly incorporated on the palate, with cedar and tobacco finish and lasting freshness (Neil Martin 90 – 92 points)
