Founded with the vision of crafting world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that stand shoulder to shoulder with the finest in the world, the estate combines exceptional terroir with uncompromising winemaking precision. Every step, from meticulous vineyard management to hand-harvesting and small-batch vinification, reflects the estate’s pursuit of excellence. The result is a collection of wines that redefine the possibilities of English viticulture, showcasing both elegance and depth.
Danbury Ridge Pinot Noir, Terroir & Winemaking
The Pinot Noir is sourced from estate vineyards planted on well-drained, sandy and gravelly soils, ideal for the variety’s delicate root systems. The cool maritime climate of the Crouch Valley provides long ripening periods, encouraging flavour complexity while preserving natural acidity and fine tannic structure.
Grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness and vinified in small batches to ensure precise control. Fermentation takes place in open-top fermenters, followed by ageing in premium French oak barrels — selected for their subtle influence and fine-grain texture. The result is a Pinot Noir of remarkable poise and concentration, balancing purity of fruit with gentle oak integration.
Danbury Ridge Pinot Noir, Tasting Notes
Danbury Ridge Pinot Noir reveals a translucent ruby hue with perfumed aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and wild strawberry, complemented by hints of rose petal, forest floor, and warm spice. The palate is elegant and finely structured, displaying layers of fresh red fruit, cranberry, and a touch of vanilla. Silky tannins and bright acidity carry through to a long, graceful finish, combining freshness with understated power. This is a Pinot Noir of sophistication and finesse, a shining example of England’s emerging fine-wine potential.
Food pairing suggestion: Enjoy with roast duck breast with cherry glaze, grilled salmon, or wild mushroom risotto. Its freshness and subtle spice also pair beautifully with game birds or herb-roasted chicken.
