Roland Sounit Rully 1er Cru Meix Cadot: Great-Value White Burgundy
Rully is one of the few remaining bastions of good-value Burgundy. Don’t tell everyone! This Premier Cru from Domaine Roland Sounit is a lovely white Burgundy with fresh fruit, floral notes and a touch of oak.
Rully is in the Côte Chalonnaise, just south of the famous Côte d’Or, between Bouzeron and Mercurey. Its slopes are planted with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and its Premier Cru vineyards offer the kind of quality you would pay much more for further north.
Meix Cadot is one of Rully’s Premier Cru sites. Domaine Roland Sounit makes its white from Chardonnay, hand-harvested and aged in a mix of tank and oak barrels.
Expect fresh orchard fruit and white flowers on the nose, with a gentle hint of vanilla from the oak. The palate is dry, lively and direct, with good freshness and a clean finish.
Rully 1er Cru Meix Cadot Food Pairing Suggestion:
Try it with the Sunday roast chicken, fish in a creamy sauce, salmon lasagne or a mushroom risotto. Serve lightly chilled, at around 12–14°C.
