Martín Códax Orange Wine: Albariño with Skin Contact
This is Albariño like you have never tasted it before. Martín Códax’s orange wine is expressive and complex, with citrus peel, stone fruit and a gentle tannin grip. Structured and distinctive, it is a brilliant introduction to orange wine.
Martín Códax is one of the best-known producers in Rías Baixas, the home of Albariño on Spain’s Atlantic coast in Galicia.
Orange wine is white wine made like a red, with the juice left in contact with the grape skins. This gives it its amber colour, extra texture and a light grip of tannin. Here, the Albariño is fermented and aged on its skins for six months.
Expect citrus peel, apricot and aromatic stone fruit. The palate is dry and structured, with bright acidity, a touch of tannin and a long, distinctive finish.
Martín Códax Orange Wine Food Pairing Suggestion:
Orange wine is very food-friendly. Try it with spiced dishes, roast chicken, grilled fish with herbs, Middle Eastern mezze or hard cheeses.
