This wine comes from an internationally-renowned producer Boekenhoutsckloof, most famous for their red – The Chocolate block.
Patina comes from newer plantings on their Swartland property, Goldmine Farm, which is situated between Riebeek-Kasteel and Malmesbury, as well as Mullineux’s Roundstone Farm. This region produces some of the best fruit in South Africa. Because of its tiny size, Boekenhoutskloof can get back to basics, micro-vinifying plots, pounding grapes by foot, and experimenting with alternative fermenting procedures. The vines finally matured in 2019, and producers are already seeing a few new experimental releases.
This Chenin is layered with amazing aromas, such as citrus, apricot, bruised apple, crunchy pear, quince, kumquat, orange blossom, acacia honey, candlewax, vanilla, saffron, and spices. This is an outstanding new Chenin Blanc, rich and ripe but with wonderful freshness. Boekenhoutskloof has discovered gold.
Food pairing suggestion: Creamy Tuscan chicken.
