Col de L’Utia Prosecco DOCG: Prosecco with a little more pedigree
Col de L’Utia is a beautifully elegant Prosecco from Prapian, showing just how good this famous Italian sparkling wine can be when the fruit comes from serious vineyard sites. Fresh, refined and wonderfully easy to drink, it has plenty of lively fruit and fine bubbles without feeling simple or overly sweet.
Prapian is a family-owned estate with vineyards across two of Prosecco’s most highly regarded DOCG areas. The family works with two plots in Valdobbiadene as well as a further 20 hectares in the Asolo-Nervesa area, combining generations of local knowledge with modern winemaking techniques and a strong interest in more environmentally conscious viticulture.
Made from Glera, Col de L’Utia has built a reputation for a particularly polished and elegant style of Prosecco. Rather than being all about easy sweetness and bubbles, there is plenty of freshness, fruit definition and balance here, making it a great choice when you fancy something a little more refined than your everyday fizz.
In the glass, expect bright aromas of crisp green apple, ripe pear and citrus alongside delicate white flowers. The palate is light and refreshing, with juicy orchard fruit, a gentle creamy texture to the bubbles and a lovely citrusy freshness running through the finish. Clean, lively and incredibly drinkable.
Col de L’Utia Prosecco Food Pairing Suggestion:
Brilliant as an aperitif, but even better with food. Try it with antipasti, prosciutto, tempura prawns, calamari or light seafood dishes. Its fresh acidity and bubbles are particularly good with salty, crispy snacks, making this an excellent bottle to open while everyone is still hovering around the kitchen.
