Quady Essensia Orange Muscat: California’s Dessert Wine Specialists

Quady are rare: a Californian winery that focuses on dessert and fortified wines. That speciality is why they make some of America’s best sweet wines. Essensia Orange Muscat is super sweet and full of orange zest and tropical fruit, a little bottle of pure indulgence.

Andrew and Laurel Quady built their first winery in Madera, California, in 1977, starting with port-style wines. Their Orange Muscat was introduced in 1980 and has become one of their best-known wines.

Essensia is made from 100% Orange Muscat, a highly aromatic grape. It is a fortified dessert wine at around 15% alcohol, rich and sweet but with a refreshing lift.

Expect orange blossom, orange zest, apricot and tropical fruit on the nose. The palate is sweet and rich, with a silky texture and a lingering, refreshing finish.

Quady Essensia Food Pairing Suggestion:

Brilliant with chocolate desserts, especially dark chocolate and orange. Try it with chocolate mousse, orange and almond cake or crème caramel. It is also lovely as a dessert on its own.
