Roebuck Estate Blanc de Noirs, Terroir & Winemaking
The growing season was flawless from start to finish. Ideal conditions during flowering and fruit set were followed by an outstanding summer, marked by long stretches of warm, dry, and sunny weather. This created the perfect environment for a generous harvest of high-quality grapes with superb balance and flavour. Harvest began in early September, bringing in abundant yields of beautifully ripe fruit. Without question, it stands as one of the most exceptional vintages England has seen to date.
The fruit for this Blanc de Noirs was sourced from select vineyard parcels with chalk and clay soils, which contribute to the wine’s structure and minerality.
After careful hand-harvesting, the grapes underwent gentle pressing to extract the purest juice. Fermentation occurred in stainless steel tanks to preserve the varietal’s delicate aromatics. The wine then underwent secondary fermentation in bottle and was aged on its lees for an extended period, enhancing its complexity and texture. It was then bottle-aged for another 48 months.
