Taittinger house has always been known as a producer of great-quality Champagne. Taittinger Comtes Blanc de Blancs is a wine of excellent craftsmanship, beautiful aromas, and impeccable purity.
Comtes de Champagne, which translates into Counts of Champagne, started as a legend of Thibaud IV King of Navarre, who, after his crusades in mid 13th century, brought back a treat from the Orient: a grape variety never known before: now recognised as Chardonnay. Today Taittinger is a world-famous, independent, and one of the last, family-owned houses.
Comtes de Champagne is always a vintage cuvee, made of 100% best Chardonnay grapes, from 5 best villages with a classification of Grand Cru. A very small percentage of grapes is aged in new oak barrels to give toasted notes to the final product. The Champagne then spent 9 years on the lees to enhance the depth and complexity of the wine.
2008 vintage is celebrated as one of the most long-lived Champagnes. The wine is known for its great structure and textural finesse.
Food pairing suggestion (if you really have to): Lobster, tarragon risotto, seafood mousse.
This Champagne will open up after a few hours of decanting.
