Tequila is far more than shots, salt and lime.

Taste of Mexico by Amuse Booze is a guided journey through the world of agave spirits, exploring how raw material, production method and ageing can transform one plant into dramatically different drinks.

Across the tasting, you’ll experience Blanco, Reposado, Añejo and Mezcal side by side, discovering what makes each style distinctive and why agave spirits have become some of the most exciting and expressive drinks in the world.

Expect clear explanations, signature serves, paired nibbles and plenty of stories along the way — all designed to make the world of agave easy to understand, fun to explore and even better to drink.

No salt licking required.

About the Experience

Your Amuse Booze host will guide you through the key styles of tequila and mezcal, using each pour to tell a different part of the agave story.

We’ll begin with the fresh, vibrant character of Blanco, before seeing what happens when tequila spends time in oak with Reposado and Añejo. Then we’ll step beyond tequila into Mezcal, exploring how different agave varieties, traditional production methods and roasting techniques can create something altogether more earthy, smoky and complex.

Along the way, you’ll learn what tequila actually is, why all tequila is agave spirit but not all agave spirit is tequila, and how factors such as ageing, roasting, fermentation and distillation influence what ends up in your glass.

Each style will also be presented through a signature serve and matched with a carefully chosen nibble, showing how flavour combinations can completely change the way a spirit tastes.

Expect plenty of anecdotes, Mexican drinking culture and a few myths busted along the way.

What Will We Be Tasting?

Your journey through agave will include four key styles:

  • Blanco Tequila – fresh and unaged, putting the character of the agave front and centre with bright citrus, pepper, herbs and earthy sweetness
  • Reposado Tequila – gently rested in oak, adding softer vanilla, spice and caramel notes while retaining plenty of fresh agave character
  • Añejo Tequila – aged for longer in barrel, developing richer flavours of oak, dried fruit, spice and toffee with a rounder, more complex texture
  • Mezcal – a broader and more varied agave category, often showing earthy, mineral, herbal and smoky flavours created through traditional production methods

The exact producers and signature serves may vary depending on availability, but each drink will be selected to showcase a distinctive side of Mexico’s agave tradition.

Who Is This For?

  • Tequila lovers wanting to move beyond their usual bottle
  • Anyone who thinks they don’t like tequila and is willing to be proved wrong
  • Mezcal fans keen to understand the category in more depth
  • Cocktail lovers curious about the spirits behind some of their favourite drinks
  • Anyone interested in Mexican food, drinks and culture
  • Groups of friends looking for an interactive and memorable tasting experience
  • Complete beginners — no agave knowledge required

More Than Tequila

Agave spirits are shaped by geography, tradition, time and technique.

A fresh Blanco can be bright, peppery and vibrant. A Reposado might soften into vanilla and spice. Añejo can become rich and luxurious, while Mezcal opens up an entirely different world of earthy, smoky and savoury flavours.

Taste of Mexico brings those contrasts together, giving you the chance to experience the category side by side and understand exactly why each style tastes the way it does.

Four agave spirits. Four signature serves. Plenty of stories.

And hopefully, a completely different idea of what tequila can be.
