Graham’s 40 Year Old Tawny Port: A True Showstopper
With an incredible 40 years of age, this stunning tawny Port is a real showstopper. Bring it out at the end of a dinner party and you will be the envy of everyone at the table. It is plush, concentrated and incredibly long.
Graham’s was founded in 1820 by William and John Graham and is now owned by the Symington family. The 40 Year Old is made from very old wines laid down in the family cellars by previous generations: the Master Blender’s great-grandfather, grandfather, father and uncles. Each blend is a real link with the family’s history.
Very old tawny Port like this is rare. After decades in seasoned oak casks, the wine turns a golden amber colour with a pale green rim, a sign of great age, and develops wonderfully complex flavours.
Expect a complex, powerful nose, with delicate fruit and raisins leading into toasted toffee and chocolate. The palate is concentrated and silky, with a long, lingering finish.
40 Year Old Tawny Port Food Pairing Suggestion:
It is a dessert in itself, but it is also wonderful with mature cheeses, roasted nuts, creamy desserts or a simple almond tart.
