Jesus Madrazo Real de Asua comes from a family that helped form Compania Vinicola del Norte Espana (CVNE), and his adored father José was a co-founder of Contino, the first single estate in Rioja, in 1973. Jesus, who is a fifth generation descendant of the founding family of CVNE, began working as a winemaker in Haro in 1995 and was promoted to senior winemaker at Contino Estate in 1999, where he attained international acclaim. Moreover, he produced the first 100% Graciano wine in Spain.
Jesus founded his own company in 2017 and initially specialised in distinctive wines from the DOC Rioja and DO Ribera del Duero in pursuit of new challenges.
This red is made from a blend of Tempranillo, Graciano, and Mazuelo grapes, carefully selected from the best vineyards in the region. The wine has a beautiful ruby-red color with garnet reflections and a complex aroma of ripe dark fruit, vanilla, thyme, rosemary. It has racy acidity, great fruit concentration and a perfect balance with ageing potential.
Food pairing suggestion: Spanish pork with butter beans and chorizo.
