Renegade 2021 represents a fresher, more vibrant version of this Rhône-inspired blend, shaped by a cooler vintage with excellent natural acidity. It’s youthful, aromatic and brimming with red and black fruit, offering a refined yet energetic expression of Syrah-led blending. More lifted than the 2018, but equally captivating in its own style.
Ken Forrester, The Producer
Ken’s approach to Renegade has always emphasised instinctive winemaking: taking what the vintage offers and allowing the wine’s personality to emerge naturally. With 2021’s cooler, slower-ripening conditions, Ken leaned into elegance: softer extraction, lighter oak influence and a deliberate focus on fragrance and finesse. The result is a Renegade that celebrates freshness without sacrificing complexity.
About the 2021 Vintage
The nose bursts with raspberry, black cherry, violets and cracked pepper, supported by hints of baking spice and wild herbs. The palate is medium-bodied and beautifully balanced, showing juicy fruit, fine-grained tannins and a lively mineral core. Subtle oak adds warmth without dominating. The finish is long, clean and slightly spicy, making this vintage exceptionally drinkable: now or over the next 6–8 years.
Food Pairing Suggestion
Pair with roast duck, charred octopus, or aubergine and lentil moussaka.
