Although Ken Forrester is most famous for elevating Chenin Blanc, he has long been fascinated by the potential of Rhône varieties in Stellenbosch’s granitic soils. Renegade is his ode to Syrah-led blends of the southern Rhône: wines that are generous, spicy and deeply comforting. Crafted with minimal intervention, gentle extraction and careful barrel ageing, Renegade celebrates instinct over formula. It is Ken’s “free-spirited” red: expressive, soulful and unapologetically characterful.
About the 2022 Vintage
Complex bouquet of ripe plums, spice, and hints of vanilla, which carries through to an approachable, full-bodied palate with soft tannins. It is noted for its balance of “New World fruit” and “Old World style,” with a spicy and slightly peppery finish. .
