Flor de Vetus Verdejo: Rueda at Its Best
Flor de Vetus has been one of our best-selling white wines for years, and it is a fine example of Rueda at its best. It has a lovely white flower note and a dry, crisp, subtle finish, perfect for drinking on its own in summer and great with grilled fish.
Bodegas Vetus is part of the Antón family’s Grupo Artevino, which makes wines across some of Spain’s top regions, including Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Toro. For Flor de Vetus, they head to Rueda, the home of Spain’s best Verdejo.
The grapes come from bush vines over 50 years old, grown at 800–930 metres on very sandy soils. They are hand-harvested and the wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel to keep all the focus on fresh fruit.
Expect lime zest, green apple, citrus and white flowers, with a slightly flinty edge. The palate is dry and fresh, with a lovely silky texture, balanced acidity and a clean, mineral finish.
Flor de Vetus Verdejo Food Pairing Suggestion:
A natural match for grilled fish and seafood. Try it with sea bream, garlic prawns, calamari or a seafood paella. It is also lovely with salads and goat’s cheese.
