From their humble beginnings in 2008 as a farm diversification initiative, Hattingley Valley has developed into one of the top wineries in the UK. In 2008, the Robinson family took the first steps toward where the winery is now by establishing their very first vineyard on a piece of their farmland. Emma Rice, the Head Winemaker and Director, oversaw the construction of the 600 tonne, environmentally sustainable winery. They now have one of the most sophisticated wineries in the world, and Simon has a lot thinner wallet since Emma took full advantage of Simon’s lack of knowledge of the business to persuade him into purchasing the best equipment.
No surprise Hattingley Valley is one of Loki’s favourite English sparkling wine producers, and we have seen them go from strength to strength over the last few years.
Hattingley Valley Classic Reserve NV is among the most significant ones that Hattingley produces; it is also the most accessible and, probably, one of the most popular. The classic cuvee is made with 15% of the fermentation carried out in old burgundy barrels which adds weight and texture balancing the racy Hampshire acidity. While many people mistakenly believe that “vintage” wines are always superior (which is frequently not the case! ), this Non-vintage demonstrates Emma’s talent as a winemaker.
The aromas of lemon peel, nougat, and tangy citrus make this an incredibly refreshing wine. It is a subtle, mild honey note on the palate, with fresh acidity, and vivid orchard flavours; pears, a hint of nuts, and a complicated finish.
One of the hardest tasks the winemaking crew must perform is the blending of wines from various grape kinds, vineyards, barrels, and tanks in an effort to preserve a consistent style. This wine is our crowd-pleaser, all-purpose drink, and is incredibly simple for anybody to enjoy!

Hattingley Valley’s Classic Reserve is among the best English sparkling wines I’ve tried. Each sip offers new layers of flavour. Simply delicious.

This is absolutely stunning and if it isn’t just the best English sparkling wine going, it is definitely best value. Just superb.
