Sibiliana Sensale Orange, Producer
Sibiliana Vini is a modern Sicilian cooperative based near Marsala, in the far west of the island. Part of Cantine Europa, one of Sicily’s most progressive wine groups, Sibiliana represents a new generation of winemaking that combines contemporary precision with deep regional heritage. The Viti Sensale range is produced exclusively from organically grown grapes, showcasing the island’s native varieties and expressive Mediterranean character. Sustainability, respect for nature, and minimal intervention lie at the heart of the estate’s philosophy, resulting in wines that capture both the sun-drenched vibrancy and purity of Sicily’s diverse terroirs.
Sibiliana Sensale Orange, Terroir & Winemaking
The grapes for Viti Sensale Orange are sourced from certified organic vineyards planted on limestone and clay soils in western Sicily. The region’s warm, dry climate and coastal breezes provide ideal conditions for healthy, low-yielding vines that deliver concentrated flavours and natural balance.
This “orange” wine is made from Catarratto, one of Sicily’s most distinctive indigenous white varieties. The must is fermented on its skins for an extended period, extracting colour, texture, and gentle tannins while developing a complex aromatic profile. Aged in traditional clay amphorae, this wine develops remarkable texture and richness, resulting in an invigorating, expressive style that beautifully captures its natural character.
Sibiliana Sensale Orange, Tasting Notes
Sibiliana Viti Sensale Orange glows with an amber hue and offers aromas of dried apricot, orange peel, honey, and wild herbs, with a subtle hint of spice and tea leaf. The palate is textured and expressive, balancing vibrant acidity with gentle tannins and notes of candied citrus, peach skin, and almond. Dry and complex, it finishes with a savoury minerality that lingers beautifully. This is an accessible yet characterful orange wine that perfectly embodies Sicily’s bold, sunlit spirit.
Food pairing suggestion: Excellent with Moroccan spiced chicken, roasted root vegetables, or aged cheeses. It also pairs wonderfully with Mediterranean mezze or grilled octopus — dishes that echo its earthy, aromatic charm.
