Vidal Sauvignon Blanc: Classic Marlborough Freshness
Vidal Sauvignon Blanc is a bright, aromatic New Zealand white with everything people love about Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. It is crisp, lively and full of tropical fruit, with that unmistakable snap of freshness that makes this style so easy to enjoy.
Vidal has a long history in New Zealand wine. Anthony Joseph Vidal arrived in New Zealand in 1888 and soon recognised the potential of Hawke’s Bay. By 1905, he had turned a former racing stable yard into a cellar and winery, helping to lay the foundations for one of the country’s pioneering wine names. The winery stayed family-owned until the 1970s, before being acquired by George Fistonich in 1976.
Today, Vidal is known for producing elegant, expressive wines with a focus on minimal intervention from vineyard to bottle. This Sauvignon Blanc comes from premium grapes grown in Marlborough’s Awatere and Wairau Valleys, two areas well known for producing vibrant, intensely aromatic whites.
What makes this bottle stand out is its balance of punchy fruit and clean freshness. The nose bursts with ripe passionfruit, citrus and fresh herbs, while the palate brings juicy tropical fruit, zesty acidity and a crisp, refreshing finish. It is dry, bright and full of energy, with enough flavour to satisfy Sauvignon Blanc fans without feeling heavy.
Vidal Sauvignon Blanc Food Pairing Suggestion:
This is a great match for Asian-inspired dishes, especially anything with fresh herbs, chilli, lime or ginger. Try it with Vietnamese noodle salad, Thai green curry, crispy chilli prawns or a fresh sushi platter. The wine’s tropical fruit and lively acidity work beautifully with aromatic spice and bright, citrusy flavours.

I don’t know much about wine, but this Sauvignon Blanc blew me away! It’s so fresh and easy to drink, with a lovely zing to it. For the price, it’s absolutely incredible – I’d happily buy it again.
