This single varietal Semillon from Zuccardi’s San Pablo vineyard in the Uco Valley is a wonderfully crisp, fresh, honest wine.
Sebastián Zuccardi was raised in a family renowned for their visionary and innovative mindset. Since 1963, when his grandfather first planted grapevines in Maipú, Mendoza, the Zuccardi family has continuously expanded and evolved, becoming a prominent force in Argentine wine production.
Under Sebastián’s leadership, the winery established a research and development department in 2008 to explore the terroir and various factors influencing wine quality. Sebastián’s vision is “not to strive for perfect wines, but wines that express the place, the region”.
The San Pablo vineyard features well-stratified alluvial soil. The soil profile includes small, middle eroded stones situated on a sandy-clay layer. The winemaking process involves direct pressing of the grapes. Maceration is carried out in concrete vats without epoxy, using indigenous yeast. Malolactic fermentation also occurs in these Zuccardi trademark concrete vessels which they have become so well known for using across their range.
Polígonos is a selection of varietals that authentically represent the character of the region they originate from. These vineyards are named in honor of the local people. They capture a rich and deep expression of the region, reflecting not only its geography and climate but also its social, historical, and economic attributes.
This delicious gourmet, full-bodied dry white wine boasts a brilliant straw-yellow colour with firm tears. The nose reveals aromas of freshly dried hay, dried white fruits, butter, toast, green apple, and a hint of vanilla and coriander. On the palate, it is rich and concentrated with an exceptionally luscious, fresh texture.
Food pairing suggestion: Grilled trout with rocket salad and gorgonzola.
