Graham’s 10 Year Old Tawny Port: Sweet, Silky and Nutty
Graham’s 10 Year Old Tawny is a sweet, silky tawny Port bursting with ripe cherry, honey and fig. It is a wonderfully versatile Port, delicious after dinner, with cheese or even slightly chilled as an aperitif.
Graham’s was founded in 1820 by brothers William and John Graham, and is now owned by the Symington family, one of the great families of Port. The grapes for this tawny come mainly from five Douro Valley estates owned by the family, including the famous Quinta dos Malvedos.
A tawny Port spends many years ageing in seasoned oak casks, where it slowly turns from deep red to a beautiful tawny colour and develops nutty, mellow flavours. This 10 Year Old is the result of a decade of careful ageing and blending by Graham’s master blenders.
Expect complex nutty aromas with honey, figs and ripe cherry. The palate is rich and silky, with mature fruit softened by age and a long, warming finish.
Graham’s 10 Year Old Tawny Port Food Pairing Suggestion:
Fantastic with Ossau-Iraty cheese and fresh cherries. It is also lovely with apple pie and cinnamon, pecan pie, crème brûlée or a handful of roasted nuts.
