Muses Estate Clio White Wine: Fresh from the Valley of the Muses
Clio, “The White Muse”, is a fresh, easy-going Greek white wine with real character. Light, crisp and unoaked, with nectarine, lemon and jasmine, it is a brilliant introduction to Greece’s native white grapes.
Muses Estate is a family winery in Askri, in the Valley of the Muses in central Greece, named after the mythical home of the nine Muses. The estate was founded in 1946 and is now run by the third generation of the family. Winds from Mount Helikon keep the valley around 3°C cooler than its surroundings, and most of the vines are old, unirrigated and low-yielding.
Clio is a blend of three Greek grapes: Assyrtiko for freshness and minerality, with Roditis and Savatiano. It is made in a dry, light, unoaked style, so it is all about fresh fruit.
Expect nectarine, lemon and jasmine on the nose. The palate is dry and light-bodied, with crisp apple freshness, mineral and citrus layers, and a clean finish.
Muses Estate Clio White Wine Food Pairing Suggestion:
Perfect with Greek and Mediterranean food: grilled fish, calamari, a Greek salad with feta, spanakopita or a mezze spread.
